Plants are showing a lot of improvement the last few days, feel as if I'm now catching onto the concept, I was just a bit surprised how quick those little plants gobble up the food, but it is getting easier to tell at a glance when it is time to add another batch of fertilizer. I now have planted about 70 heads of lettuce, and just seeded another 45, which will max out the bed for now. Had a real struggle finding the calcuim nitrate, nobody up here knew anything of it, finally found a source in Ohio, shipping cost more than the product, but at least I now have a source. 55 pound box was 27.50, without shipping.
Had some very cold nights, had to cover my young plants with frost cloth and run a small heater, guess the coldest night about 4 days ago was 14 degrees. We survived it, without losing any plants. Inside my greenhouse daily temps are a controlled 65-75 degrees, and the plants are now developing nicely. Hoping to be eating or own lettuce in a couple of weeks or so.
Thanks for your hard work, would never had the guts without your support, your plans are simple and very doable, I expect to get many years use in my investment, any extra, we will sold in some nearby farmers markets. Doug
P.S. will send later pictures as the plants progress.
